She came from Texas to Maine.
Fell in love with the Backwoods.
Now we're spreading the Love!
Hold up, she's brought her brother on board too...

Permanently moving from Texas to Maine usually prompts a number of questions. The first question being:
Sooo, have you made it through a whole winter yet?
Now after 20 years she can sufficiently say: Yes, I have!
Welcome to Folk Camp!
We are a family business created by the sibling duo, Curt & Debbie Hayes, sharing our beloved Maine vibes & products based on the rural lifestyle Debbie has created on her lovely farm overlooking Big Indian Lake.
The Farm’s Not Ready—But the Gate’s Still Open
You’re not going to find drone shots or live streams of the barn, petting zoos or hayrides. Not yet, anyway.
The barn’s down to two ponies and a pea hen - with zero respect for clean floors.
And the farmhouse remains a revolving door for my almost-grown kids.
There’s a litter box in the mudroom, paint samples taped to the walls, and no chance I’m launching an Airbnb this month. Or the next.
But I'd still love to open my farm gate —
Because this life I’ve built here? It’s got something special. And even if I can’t have you out for a bonfire (yet), I can show you around the best way I know how — for now.

What Folk Camp Is (For Now)
If I had the space, lawn service, and working plumbing—I’d invite you over in a heartbeat.
We’d sit on the porch. Feed the ponies. Wander the hay field with a glass of vino.
But if you ever wished you could run away to Maine, slow down, layer up, or sit still under a string of porch lights… This shop is my way of saying: I'm here to share that life with you. Right where you are—even if it's just through a screen and a hug across the ethers.
Welcome to Folk Camp.
We’re just getting started.

A Bit More About Deb
Debbie Hayes is the creative force behind Meadow Lake Farm in St. Albans, Maine. Originally from Texas, she moved to Maine in 2004 with her four children, seeking a life rooted in nature and small town life. Since then, she has cultivated a lakeside homestead that reflects her Southern drawl, free spirit, and joy of driving tractors!
Through Folk Camp, she’s spreading that love beyond the farm gate—inviting others to bring a little bit of backwoods Maine into their own lives.
Debbie also brings her eye for comfort and character to her interior design work through Farm Toast Studio. Her style blends rustic charm and a dash of modern function to create spaces that feel both lived-in and loved.
Whether it's stocking the shop, creating a mood board, or mucking out pony pens, her lifestyle is a testament to what happens when you reinvent your dreams and build a life you love.
